HS Volleyball stands undefeated!

This week our high school volleyball teams took to the road for the first time, playing in Huangdao at YCIS. Students reflected that outside of last year's QISN tournament, they hadn't played an away game in at least two years. Leeann, G11 said of the court, "The back was very tight for serves, the ceiling felt a little low and everyone took some time to adjust to the new  court." 

Indeed, the girls started off the sets barely losing in a deuce to YCIS before finding their footing. They felt nervous about the away game and took the first set to loosen up before defeating YCIS in the second two sets.  

The boys commented that the nets were higher and the court had a different feel. Matthew, G11, said that the boys lost their nervousness during the first match and had a lot of fun working together to defeat YCIS 3 sets to 0.  

Athletic Director Mr Thompson was proud of the way the teams played and felt like the synergy that was missing in the teams' first match against Amerasia had finally arrived, with the boys especially playing well together and working as a unit. "Even when they made mistakes, they encouraged each other. With a few errors to work on, I believe that they will do well in the LifePlus tournament." 

After the match this week, the athletes feel the same way and are looking forward to traveling to Wuxi next week to try themselves against other LifePlus schools in the annual tournament. The tournament will run Thursday, October 19 through Saturday, October 21.
