Undefeated!

April 25, 2023

Last weekend the International School of Qingdao's high school soccer teams traveled to Wuhan to participate in the final LifePlus sports tournament of the year. Both boys and girls felt good going into the tournament, hoping that their hard work and practice would pay off.

After a slight travel delay, the Qingdao Dolphins took the field on Thursday and got into a groove right away, with the girls defeating Chengdu Pandas and the boys winning against the Yantai Sharks. Friday was a full day for each team, playing three matches in the hot sun. The boys did well, earning a first seed spot after winning two matches and tying one against the Tianjin Eagles. The ladies did even better, winning all three games with a significant goal differential and going into Saturday holding first place.

Unfortunately, the sunshine was replaced with torrential downpours on Saturday morning and the day's games were initially delayed. The first girls' game of the morning was abbreviated and the rest of the matches were canceled. Assistant coach Ms. Guo commented, "Our students toughed through the humid heat during the first two days and our girls even played in the cold rain against the Wuhan Buffaloes." Despite the rain, the students enjoyed themselves, playing games with other LifePlus students in the Wuhan Buffaloes' gym while the coaches and athletic directors discussed the tournament outcome.

At the end of the soggy day, the undefeated Dolphins were awarded first place for both girls and boys as well as the Sportsmanship award for the Girl's Division. We couldn't be prouder of our International School of Qingdao One Team both on and off the field!
