Welcome, ISQ Secondary Parents and Students!

We are overjoyed to welcome our parents and children to the 2019-2020 school year at International School of Qingdao! At ISQ, we seek to partner with our parents and students in all aspects of school in order to ensure high engagement, achievement, and learning. We recognize that our parents have demonstrated a great amount of trust in sharing the responsibility of their children’s education with us. As partners, we may not necessarily share in every philosophical aspect of what a good education looks like, but we are confident that open, respectful communication between us, even amidst potential language barriers and cultural differences, will help foster an appreciation for productive collaboration and diverse perspectives.

• Secondary students start the day with Flex, a combination of wellbeing programs such as assembly, advisory, and elective interests
• Absences: Please notify Sarah Cheng sarah.cheng@isqchina.com before 9:00 am if your child will be absent
• Dress Code: Modesty, professionalism, and comfort are key! Please help your child to remember to wear a shirt with a collar or Cove gear each day
• Electronics: Students should bring their charged laptops/iPads to school each day. Although students are permitted to have phones, they are expected to keep them switched off and out of sight at all times except with permission
• Community Language: Students are expected to contribute to the community by using the common language of English throughout the school day and at school activities

This year, we are honored to serve the ISQ community as the Secondary principals, especially considering ISQ has embraced three commitments in all aspects of our programming. To Learn. To Love. To Lead. We endeavor to foster these commitments in our work as we support our teachers in their professional practices and our children in their academic growth and their wellbeing.

Odyssey Service Trip – January 2020

Odyssey is preparing for this year’s International Service Trip to Laos and is looking for interested students in grades 10-12!

Odyssey is the student development branch of the iSC (International Schools Consortium) Support Services team, focusing on the social and emotional development of our students. Part of their work is accomplished through external opportunities, including leadership retreats, service trips, and taking part in iSC events. The other part of their work is accomplished internally at each school, including building connections with students and staff, assessing student development, and supporting Student Services. Their goal is to provide a broad, multi-faceted approach to supporting students across iSC.

First PTO Meeting of the Year

Do you want to be more involved at ISQ? Are you looking for a place to connect with other parents? Then the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is the place to be for all this and more!

Amongst other things, we organize English classes, cooking classes and many volunteer opportunities to support ISQ.

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be on Tuesday, September 3 in the school auditorium. Refreshments will start at 9 a.m. and the meeting will start at 9:30 a.m. Chinese and Korean translation will be available.
