Get Tickets for ISQ MS Theatre’s “Robin Hood”

The Middle School Theatre class’ preparation is becoming more intense every day, as the cast and crew build the set, begin learning tech cues and fight choreography, while rehearsing through entire scenes to get ready for opening day in May.

This week was challenging, due to a few of the main characters, (including yours truly) forgetting their lines on stage and needing to be reminded. On Thursday, the clang of blade on blade was heard throughout the second floor as three pairs of “fighters” sparred. Some using sticks and bits of pipe, while others had the opportunity to utilize heavier broadswords to defend themselves from adversaries. Everyone enjoyed this break from reciting lines to have fun and exercise.

During the classes, students are being reminded to think before they act. A good work ethic is mandatory to be in this drama. Not only do cast and tech members have to perform and do special effects, but manual labor is a must. A Saturday rehearsal a few weeks ago involved using saws, drills, and paint to create and decorate the set, and cutting up cardboard “trees” to make them look more realistic.

Around thirty-five middle school students and two elementary students are involved in this production. That’s not to mention the parents and teachers working hard to make costumes for the characters and bring the set to life. Friendships are created through the classes and in the after-school rehearsals due to spending hours together learning, growing, and having many conversations. Commitment is a value the students are experiencing firsthand too. Even though it isn’t always easy, Theatre and Theatre Tech students are learning a lot!

The show dates are Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th beginning at 6:30 PM. Admissions is 40 RMB per ticket. Tickets can be purchased through ClearCut, an online ticket sales program. To order your tickets, simply extract the QR code or open the link below and follow the instructions on the subsequent pages. When completing your order, make sure your email address is correct as ClearCut will email tickets to you. Once you receive the email, either print out or save your tickets and present them at the front door during the night of the show.

We hope you will mark your calendars and look forward to our production of “Robin Hood”

Update on our new lunch provider

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your feedback and support as we have transitioned to Jiayan as our new lunch provider. We want to update you on some recent changes:
Jiayan now offers our students two lunch choices. You will find the updated menu attached.

In order to meet all of the FDA's requirements for food safety, the lunch is cooked and served warm. The food is cooked each morning and delivered to the school while still hot and fresh. You will see also that each day includes a vegetable choice, in addition to the corn and sweet potatoes that are now offered.
As a reminder, the students are welcome to return to the food line for a second serving if they are still hungry after their initial serving.
Please feel free to let me know if there are any questions about your child's lunch.

Row, Row, Row, Your Boat

After going through a fun unit about solids, liquids, and gasses, JK learned about things that sink or float this week. After they learned the very basics, they were challenged to make their own boats and tested them out on the “high seas”!
