Middle School

Ages 11-13

Welcome!

ISQ's middle school has distinctive qualities that provide a learning environment in which all of our students are welcomed, accepted, and valued by teachers and peers.

Passionate teachers guide our students through core academic offerings and extra and co-curricular activities, which build on academic and areas of interest from younger years.

Students will also expand into new subjects previously unknown, which broadens their talents, responsibility, leadership, and love of learning.

CO-CURRICULAR

ISQ Kids Read!

Students take part in a reading competition where they chose to read books from a wide variety of options. In mid-winter, the students go to a China-wide quiz-bowl type competition where they compete against other middle school students.

Model United Nations

Maker-Space

This program is arranged so students who want to create have the space and support to do so. Working with wood, materials, sculpture, mechanical or artistic pursuits, students are paired with an adult who is also passionate about creation and student learning. This is also offered one hour a week as an elective for eighth grade students as part of their instructional day.

Drama

Students learn about being on the stage. They practice speech, stage presence and develop skills to be comfortable on stage or behind the scenes working with building sets, running lights and sound, or evening directing and student management. One goal of this program is to help students prepare for seasonal dramatic productions at ISQ.

Jazz Band

Eighth grade students may choose, as an elective period once a week and occasionally after school, to take part in the Jazz Band.

Yearbook

Eighth grade students may choose, as an elective period once a week and occasionally after school, to take part in the school’s YearBook program.
