Celebrating LifePlus Chinese Reading Month
April 11, 2025
Throughout the month of March, students across our LifePlus Chinese schools took part in Chinese Reading Month, an initiative to encourage students to grow in their Chinese reading and language skills.
Students in Chinese language classes were challenged to read Chinese books throughout the month and showcase their learning through various creative projects. From posters and digital presentations to mini books and literary reflections, their work reflected not only language development but also creativity, dedication and a growing love for Chinese literature.
From Ms. Liza, Head of Chinese Department:
“During Reading Month, our students surprised and inspired us. Their enthusiasm, energy, and determination truly moved us. One middle school beginner-level student read 49 books. An Advanced-level student read four novels and created two hand-drawn posters. In AP Chinese, one student read four novels and designed four digital posters. A Grade 3 student read over 2,000 pages of non-pinyin books across various topics and made a PPT for each. Another Grade 5 advanced student read 165 books, and a Grade 3 student made 11 mini books of their own. Their comprehension, expression, creativity and artistic ability left us in awe.”
To wrap up the month, students were recognized for their participation, effort and presentation, based on their Chinese level. A surprise celebration also awaits to honor their accomplishments.
Bravo to all our students from different grades who took part in Reading Month, and heartfelt thanks to our dedicated Chinese teachers for cultivating a love of language and culture in our community.
