Tuition and fee updates, strong math results from our students and new teacher
March 14, 2025
Greetings and peace to you all. I hope this newsletter happily informs and shares relevant updates of our school. Being the original and longest standing international school in Qingdao, China (established in 1996), we are proud of our strong tradition in providing world-class, American education within an English environment, that holistically raises up servant leaders in every vocation. Be a part of our community that loves, learns and leads!

Tuition and fees update for the upcoming school year
As we plan for the upcoming school year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
In our commitment to providing an excellent education, we continue to invest in our dedicated teachers, overseas learning materials, classroom resources, and professional development for teachers—all of which shape the high-quality learning environment our students experience each day. As we follow rising costs in these key areas, annual tuition will increase by approximately 1.5% for Elementary through High School (3,100–3,300), and by 5,000 for ECC to sustain the program while maintaining break-even.
Early bird tuition discount update
Families who choose to pay the full annual tuition by May 15 will receive an early bird discount of 3%. The tuition and fees details, including payment options, can be found [here].
Updates to school-sponsored event and trip costs
We are adjusting how we cover costs for optional extra-curricular events and trips. Instead of a fixed fee model, we will use a 50/50 cost-sharing approach. This model will be applied to all extra-curricular trips, regardless of their length, location, or type and ensures that school resources are used equitably and effectively to support all students.
- Mandatory, co-curricular school events (such as Secondary Spring Trips, Senior Departure Seminar, and other required school trips) will continue to be fully covered by the school.
- Optional school events and extra-curricular trips (such as sports tournaments, VEX Robotics tournaments, and Model United Nations conferences) will be split 50/50 between the school and the participating student’s family.
- Non-sponsored events (those not organized by the school) will remain fully covered by the participating student’s family.
As we plan ahead together, please note your child’s enrollment is already secure with us, as all students are automatically opted into next year’s class. To ensure we can serve you and your child most effectively, please take a couple of minutes to confirm your family’s details in [PowerSchool] by Friday, March 28.
Instructions on how to confirm your family’s details can be found [here]. If you have any questions or need assistance logging into PowerSchool, our Registrar is ready to help at Nancy.Duan@isqchina.com.
Thank you for your continued partnership with us. We are grateful for your support as we work together to nurture your child’s love for learning and character development, equipping them to make a meaningful impact in the world.
Well done ISQ Math Students!
This past January 2025, we had five students participate in the AMC 8 (American Mathematics Competition 8) in Qingdao, and we did very well! AMC, or American Mathematics Competitions, is a series of mathematics competitions organized by the Mathematical Association of America.
The competitions are designed to stimulate interest in mathematics among students and to help identify talented young mathematicians. Congratulations!
