China Week 2025

January 24, 2025

One of the greatest joys of being an international school is celebrating cultures from around the world. Every year, as the Spring Festival approaches, we dedicate a week to honor our host country—China!

From Foundations to Grade 12, students immersed themselves in cultural activities throughout the week. ECC students crafted traditional items like Mugwort Hammers and Hairpins, while older grades explored Chinese Tea Tasting and Traditional Sports. Each activity was hands-on, engaging, and rooted in cultural tradition.

The week wouldn’t be complete without our annual China Week performances, a beloved ISQ tradition. The day began with our ECC and elementary students showcasing their talents through songs, dances and poetry recitals. The assembly opened with a stunning lion dance that amazed everyone with their Kungfu style moves and interacted with our young students. A Chinese magician followed, delighting the crowd with his awe-inspiring tricks. Our students and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the performances, which showcased creativity and talent across all levels of Chinese proficiency.

Later, middle and high school students gathered for their assembly, organized by the Serve the City club. The lion dance illuminated in the darkness kept everyone engaged, then the Chinese magician Mr. Liu really wowed our secondary students with his tricks every few seconds. Musical performances from talented students added a festive touch, while a Lucky Draw brought excitement and laughter, setting the tone for the new year.

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated Chinese language teachers, who bring passion and creativity to sharing their culture. This week was more than a celebration—it was a bridge, connecting our community and deepening our appreciation for Chinese traditions.
