TianMUN XII - Convergence of Calamities
November 15, 2024
Last week, 25 students from the International School of Qingdao participated in the 12th Tianjin Model United Nations (TianMUN). This annual event, hosted by our sister school Tianjin International School, brought together around 200 delegates from across China, including three other LifePlus Schools. Our students took on the roles of diplomats representing various countries in simulated UN committees like the Security Council and General Assembly.
TianMUN aims to deepen students' understanding of international issues, policy-making, and the workings of the United Nations. Each delegate prepared solutions to key topics aligned with this year’s theme, “Convergence of Calamities,” and engaged in debates to craft resolutions just like in the real UN. Throughout the three-day simulation, students practiced essential skills such as public speaking, negotiation, and teamwork.
We’re proud to announce that our school sent nine Head Chairs and Deputy Chairs, showcasing our leadership in these important discussions. Additionally, Kenny Noh won Best Delegate for the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development, while Zitang Wang received the Most Passionate Delegate award in the Economic and Social Council. As a bonus, our YMJ band also took 1st place with their performance during the bash!
Participating in events like TianMUN not only enhances academic growth but also fosters social connections. Our students always enjoy the opportunity to reconnect with friends from other LifePlus schools. We look forward to hosting MUN in Qingdao this coming February. Great job, everyone!
