Qingdao Dolphins for the win!

Last weekend, the the International School of Qingdao's middle school soccer program took 13 students to Yinhai sports field to compete in a friendly tournament against other Qingdao international schools. Over the last few years, sporting events have been canceled, delayed and altered to fit with Covid prevention policies. This weekend's Qingdao International Schools Network (QISN) soccer tournament was no different, delayed due to an outbreak and re-located to suit the current situation.  

Despite the setbacks and last minute changes, the Qingdao Dolphins had a great attitude, cheering each other on and demonstrating sportsmanship towards the other teams. A handful of the International School of Qingdao's parents came out for the soccer tournament in Qingdao and watched from the sidelines as the team played their best against tough opponents. The boys took second place in the Qingdao International Schools Network tournament and two players earned places on the All Tournament Team. Txomin, G8, took home the MVP award! 

A highlight of the event was the "UN" girl's team. Several schools could not field a full girl's team, so the ladies banded together in a show of unity and fun. They played against the school girls' teams, doing well despite never having played together before, taking first place!

Hannah, G7 on winning with the UN girl's team, "I was happy to play with them. It was surprising and exciting to win!" 

Assistant coach Peek said, "The boys started strong and continued to play well throughout the day. They showed good teamwork—a few of the boys hadn't played together with the team and did well trying to find a place to make contributions. I was really pleased to see a couple of our players make the All-Tournament Team."
