Taking the field

April 13, 2023

Spring sports are in full sail as the International School of Qingdao's Dolphins hit the court and the soccer pitch this week in local and LifePlus matches.

Both high school boys and girls soccer teams faced off against YCIS on Monday afternoon in the second game of the season. The boys worked together well, fluidly moving the ball around the field and finding the weak spots in the Stingray defense. Early in the match, the International School of Qingdao took the lead against YCIS, allowing Coach Sandor to give playing time to less experienced team members. Demonstrating readiness for the LifePlus soccer tournament next week, the boys team finished strong with a final score of 11-0.

The lady Dolphins took command of the field from the beginning of the match, demonstrating a strong offense and solid defense. One of the strengths of this year's team is communication – the players worked together calling the ball, giving suggestions and taking feedback rapidly during the course of play. This communication combined with the team's sound fundamentals and teamwork led the ladies to victory over YCIS 6-1.

Middle school basketball teams will travel this weekend to Wuxi where they will compete for the first time against their peers from other LifePlus schools. Nerves are high among players as they expect tough competition on the court even as they look forward to taking their first away trip for an LifePlus tournament.
