Winter MAP Testing

Dear Parents,

Starting December 2nd through 12th, with make-ups if necessary through Dec. 18th, all our students from grade K to G5 will take a MAP® (Measuring Academic Progress) Growth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or iPad. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year) in Reading, Math, Language Arts, and Science.

MAP Growth tests are unique in that they adapt to your child’s level of learning. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.

Following each testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth, which you can review with your child’s teacher for more insight.

You will be notified of the testing schedules closer to the time. Please help your child get plenty of sleep before his/her tests and try not to miss any testing school days (unless very ill). Please encourage him/her to do his/her best and make sure he/she answers every question. Even if he/she is not familiar with the material, he/she should select a best guess answer. Remember, this first test is like a pre-test, to help teachers assess where your child is in his/her learning.

We are truly excited to focus on your child’s individual growth and achievement. For more information about the MAP Growth test, visit:

Giving Instructions before Playing

Dear parents,
ISQ’s annual Book Fair will be held from December 11th to 13th. This is a great opportunity to get some Christmas presents for the readers in your life!

Open Times:
Wed 11th and Thu 12th: 8am to 4pm
Fri 13th: 8am to 12pm

The Book Fair will be held in the ISQ lobby on the first floor. Our vendor this year is Beijing Foreign Language Bookstore.

And if you are planning on attending the ECC/ES Winter Gala on Friday 13th (9-11am), you can conveniently attend both events on the same day.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Serve the City Club Sharing with 2nd Graders

On Monday morning, Jerry An, ISQ 12th grade student, current president for the Serve the City Club, visited the 2nd grade students. He talked about the current projects that their club are working on. He also shared what kind of things the money raised from selling the second grade crafts at the Christmas Fair will be spent on. He did a great job and the students had lots of questions for this big grown up ISQ student!
