Advice from our Health Office

This message was sent out last week through our classroom groups

Greetings ISQ Parents,

We are grateful that ISQ families are working together to keep themselves and others safe.

As a reminder, each morning, please check your child’s health and temperature before going to the bus stop or to school. If your child or anyone in your household experiences symptoms of COVID-19 or has fever (37.3 deg. C or higher), please do not send your child(ren) to school. Under no circumstances should a child be sent to school when any member of the household is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms or has a fever (37.3 deg. C or higher). Please keep your child at home and contact your child’s Divisional Assistant ( for ECC/Elementary and for Secondary).

Symptoms of COVID-19 according to WHO and CDC are: headache, fatigue, runny or stuffy nose, sore throat, muscle aches or joint pains, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty of breathing, fever or chills, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, and new loss of taste or smell. The Education Bureau has determined 37.3 deg. C as fever.

When your child arrives home each day, please train and encourage your child(ren) to practice the healthy habits of frequent hand-washing, covering coughs or sneezes with a tissue or bent elbow, wearing a mask in public, and physical distancing.

Together we can fight the virus.

For Your Wellbeing,

ISQ Health Office

Creative Learning

10th Grade Organic Chemistry Class

Molecular Model

At home, during HBL, 10th grade organic chemistry students got creative and used whatever items were at hand to make 3D molecule models. These materials are ordinarily provided at school for students to make representations of the microworld. We are proud of the innovation and creativity of our students!

Yesterday was the first day back at school for our 3rd-11th graders. Besides the excitement of seeing friends and teachers, chemistry students also used this chance to do the labs they missed during HBL. Because of the need to keep a social distance of one meter in school, our class split into two groups in two classrooms. One group did the titration lab, and the other group did the spectrophotometer lab.

We treasure the time of being in school, and we also value the time at home. Learning can happen at any time, anywhere. We are grateful for the different time and experience.

Our Yearbook this School Year

Dear Parents,

We have been reimagining how our Yearbook can be completed during COVID-19, HBL, and get to you wherever you are in the world. Here’s a few things to note about this year’s Yearbook:

• This year’s yearbook will be both digital and physical and will be completed in July
• Instead of selling the yearbook at manufacturing cost, ISQ will provide one free yearbook for each family if you complete the survey link
a. For families remaining in Qingdao, you can either pick it up at school over the summer or we’ll send it home with your youngest child when school resumes
b. For families leaving Qingdao, please fill out the survey below if you’d like us to ship you a copy. ISQ will cover cost the postage
• Since our plans to have a professional photographer visit us after Chinese New Year needed to be canceled, we will repurpose the ID photos and photos submitted to us by parents for our portrait pages. The quality won’t be as high as we hoped, but we have someone excellent with editing and design who will make sure our portraits are the best given the circumstances

Over the summer you’ll receive an email with a link to access our digital Yearbook. If you and your child(ren) would like a physical yearbook, please fill out the following survey carefully. This survey will close on July 15. If you have any questions, please contact us at
