I still own my home of 30 years in Beaverton, Oregon though it’s been several years since I’ve lived there. It’s nice to have a family gathering place on vacations from my life now in Qingdao. Having raised three grown sons with young families of their own, it is wonderful to begin another adventure in the unique setting of China. I absolutely love teaching young children during the week, mentoring Chinese teachers as they begin their own careers, and helping university students in English corners. With a degree in Human Development and Education from Warner Pacific College I am able to thrive in my chosen profession. Though I miss my own three sons, daughter in laws, and precious five grandchildren, my life is full of love, peace, and is certainly joy filled.

I have felt called to teach internationally for many years and I am overwhelmed with excitement at finally being able to live out this dream. After graduating university in 2014, I taught for three years in upstate South Carolina, USA. My interests and passions include theatre, reading, writing, hiking, obsessing over all creatures great and small, and, of course, working with young people! Although I lived in many states as a small child, I spent the majority of my life in a small town in South Carolina. In and near this small town, I completed my schooling, married my high school sweetheart (Jessica Attaway), and began teaching high school English Language Arts. Before coming to Qingdao with my beautiful wife and two pugs, I had never left the country; however, I have enjoyed every moment of my life as a teacher at ISQ. Working with the students and staff at this school has afforded me the privilege to grow as a teacher, professional, and global citizen.
